Chemical Coating Intern

Working in chemical and optical labs, you develop and test different formulations to make the best optical coatings for greenhouses. You work in the lab and participate in industrial collaboration to help optimizing the best coating solutions for our clients.

Internship · Delft

Join today, shape tomorrow.

This is just the beginning and we want you to be a part of it.

We are a technology company from Delft, engineering coating, solar and sensor solutions for the global energy transition. Across all these solutions, we consistently aim to change the perspective on how current materials are used and implemented, as well as challenging the system innovation behind them.

PAR+ is on a mission to increase yield inside greenhouses in a sustainable manner with a revolutionary coating. This past year, we have executed our first two pilots and achieved positive results on crop quality and crop growth. By converting UV light to photosynthetic active radiation (PAR) as well as making the light diffuse, we can increase the yield of a greenhouse by as much as 8 - 10% annually, with a lifetime for at least 8 years.

We develop coatings that exhibit excellent optical, chemical, and physical properties. Therefore, we are always on the lookout to improve our coating formulation. By testing different materials and optimizing the formulation, you will be helping us to bring the most satisfying coating product to all the greenhouses in the world.

What you’ll be doing?

  • Test materials and acquire new insights on our coatings and improve sustainability.

  • Develop and optimize coating formulation to achieve the best chemical and physical durability without scarifying optical performances.

  • Deposit and characterize coatings in chemical and optical labs.

  • Investigate thermal behaviour and mechanical behaviour of the coating

  • Participate in industrial collaboration to evaluate alternative materials and/or application.

Who we’re looking for:

  • You are approaching the end of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical oriented education, such as (but not limited to) chemical engineering, chemistry, and material science.

  • You have experience with particle dispersion and wet-coating deposition.

  • You understand (or are eager to learn about) coating optics.

  • Experience with polymer science and rheology is a plus

  • You are fluent in English (both written and verbally).

What you can expect?

  • Be part of a growing organization, with the mission to positively contribute towards the world's food security and for a healthier planet.
  • Focus on your personal development.
  • We care for your wellbeing. From Monday bootcamp sessions with the team to unlimited consults at OpenUp platform to support you in your mental health.
  • A diverse and inclusive environment, with 12 different nationalities, where you can express your opinion and share new ideas.
